The Duaw Davao Musicfest at Rizal Park was an exciting event featuring diverse local music that brought the community together to celebrate Davao's culture and creative spirit as part of the city's new annual festival.

On June 21, 2024, I had the pleasure of participating in the Duaw Davao Musicfest, held at Rizal Park. This event, part of the newly curated Duaw Davao festival initiated by the City Tourism Operations Office, is set to become a vibrant annual celebration that aims to showcase the city's diverse tourist attractions while bringing the community together through music, culture, and fun.

The musicfest was part of a bigger event, Duaw Davao, which is focused on promoting everything that makes our city unique. It’s built around four key themes: Davao Tourism, the Feast of San Pedro, Music and Colors, and Lifestyle and Leisure. But for me, it was all about the music, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect because the event coincided with World Music Day. The atmosphere was electric, with local artists taking the stage and delivering incredible performances that reflected the heart and soul of Davao’s music scene.

The lineup featured an impressive array of performances, from the funky rhythms of Guava, the soulful vibes of Cerise, the catchy melodies of Maric Gavino, the powerful presence of Chud Festejo, the indie sounds of Precal Dropouts, to the traditional beats of Kuntaw Mindanao. One of the most memorable moments was witnessing the legends Popong Landero and YANO perform their nostalgic tunes as their sets were met with enthusiasm. With each artist bringing their own unique flavor, the musicfest was a perfect blend of styles and genres.

It was more than just a concert. It was heart-warming to see people from all walks of life — from families to groups of friends coming together to enjoy the music, dance, and celebrate Davao’s creative spirit and the artists who make our city’s soundscape so dynamic.

All in all, the Duaw Davao Musicfest was a fantastic experience and a night to remember. I’m already looking forward to next year’s festivities, as this new summer tradition promises to grow even bigger and better.
